Many years ago I drank coffee and stupidly threw it away. I've missed him every day since then. This coffee pot makes a much better cup of coffee than even the most expensive automatic coffee pot, and don't get me started on pods! Yes, every coffee pot has a few parts that need cleaning. It takes a few minutes and is worth every second. Here's how I make coffee: long steam, wire funnel (don't know real name so just come with me), basket and lid. I rinse out the inside of the pot in case of dust or something. I fill the pot to the 10 cup line. Then I add the rod and wire funnel back in. Rinse the basket and lid. I use 5 full spoonfuls of coffee grounds. (Don't hate it. I love hard!) Put this back in the pot and cover the pot with a lid. Turn on the fire and let it cook for about 8 minutes. Then reduce the heat to a minimum and continue to simmer for about 6-8 minutes. Turn off the heat and immediately pour into an insulated coffee mug and the rest into an insulated carafe. Then I let the pan cool and clean. My coffee is smooth, dark, strong, amazing coffee for at least a few hours. Be careful! The handle can get slightly warm on a gas burner. I don't know anything about electricity. It can be difficult to get the pot lid right, but keep trying. If you find that the basket doesn't fit properly, you've probably turned the funnel upside down. With proper cleaning and care, I expect this pot to last for years. I'll never have a Mr. Coffee or Bunn or anyone else ever again.
