Review on Sliding Fastener Shoelace Replacement Backpacks by Amy Mcleod

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems strong but weak holding power on thin cable

Functionally they seem to work well. I had martial arts pants with drawstrings. The lace was a loop, not two ends, so it was difficult to tie. I could cut the loop, but then the drawstring could disappear in the pants. So I figured I'd buy one of those spring locks to keep them clamped. They were among the smallest I found. The biggest problem I had was that they didn't hold up very well when used on two thin strings. The strings were slightly thinner than the top. They would seal the bag well but if there was tension they would slip out. There doesn't seem to be a lot of "prongs" to hold the cable in the spring loaded clips, just pressure is used to keep them in place. Thicker cable or less smooth cable can hold up better. They seem similar to those I've seen with elastic laces. They seem to be very durable and have a pretty strong spring. They have survived multiple washes with no problems. They may fit your needs, but they just don't quite fit my needs.

Pros
  • Cable locks
Cons
  • Small parts
