The fan definitely does its job. At idle, I could expect my 1966 Mustang 289 (60-odd, with a soft cam and aluminum heads) to overheat, usually in traffic or traffic. The flex fan just wasn't pulling enough air at idle. 3 row aluminum radiator so I decided the only way out was an electric fan. If this turns on at idle, the temperature will only drop. Moves a ton of air. I was a bit surprised when I felt a breeze blowing under the car to the rear. The fan shroud fits almost perfectly on this standard heatsink, leaving about 1/4 inch open on either side of the fins. The depth was right. fits neatly between the radiator and water pump pulley. One reason for the 4 starts is that I don't like push-through mounting straps, especially since my atomizer core is mounted directly in front of my radiator, which makes these things almost work on my assembly, but I used some plastic fan mounts and attached them directly to the flanges mounted on the sides of the heatsink. The fan is a little off center so I'm looking for something else that's a little more adjustable. The real complaint is that this thing is LOUD. Outside, the car sounds a bit like a storm siren when it comes on. Inside, I can tell exactly when it turns on, but it's rather muted. It even stands on mid-length stainless steel headers and a Flowmaster two-chamber twin exhaust. My car is not quiet. Habitable as it's one of the few budget fans that would a) fit in my limited space and b) draw enough CFM to keep it cool. I've heard it's just something that S-Blade fans will have to contend with. Haven't used it with ventilation in the summer but I don't think it will be the fan's fault if the cooling issues persist.
