I bought this product almost a year ago and I have to say that it makes really good coffee. The taste is amazing and the vacuum jug keeps it hot for hours without burning the coffee like stovetop coffee makers. The scheduling feature is intuitive and works well. It's also relatively easy to clean. I prefer to hand wash my coffee frames with a mild detergent for daily cleaning and then do a full descaling every 3-4 weeks and this kettle is fine for that. . First, there is no sensor that can detect when a carafe has been placed. You can install and run anything without even putting a carafe under it, with predictably disastrous results. So I have a big sign on this thing reminding me to put the carafe down before I boil it. And if that was the only problem I wouldn't give two stars. The real problem is that if the carafe isn't in exactly the right position, there's still a lot of coffee spillage. This has happened at least three times in the last few months and it's very frustrating to wake up and grab half a coffee pot from the counter before you can drink half that actually went into the carafe. It got to the point where I change it - it's too difficult to make sure the carafe is in the right place every night before I put it in. Which is a shame because it makes fantastic coffee, but I had to clean up so much of the mess it's just not worth it.
