You get what you pay for. And this product is worth the money. If you can consistently hit 70 mph, you don't need any of these, as there's enough air going through the stock transmission cooler to cool it properly. In summer it gets hot in the mountains (220+). This Derale Hyper Cool is the pinnacle of cooling protection. I installed it on the transmission of my 2008 Ford F250 diesel pickup, under and over the rear axle. The transmission lines coming from the truck were connected and went to the block and back to the transmission. I also installed a manual switch in the cab to control the fan. You can also install built in automatic overheat protection but I wouldn't recommend the Derale brand as the one I installed only lasted one ride. I bypassed it with a manual switch on the dash. I monitor transmission temps through an aftermarket tuner. With this built-in device, the transmission temperature drops by at least 10-20 degrees when driving uphill, and in "normal" road traffic, where not much air flows through the stock cooler at the front of the truck, this device compensates for that loosely and keeps the transmission much cooler . If you're skilled or have a good mechanic, this isn't a difficult setup. You will need some hoses and zip ties and a strong bracket to mount the unit to the truck frame. They will also add a couple of quarts of transmission oil to properly fill the lines and coolant. Install this device as it provides safety when towing large loads.
