This will be our second set of these clever build toys. The balls are not magnetic but the ends of the rods pieces are. The rods can connect anywhere on a metal ball so you can feel free to build in any 3-D direction. This gives more options for creations.My kids also like to play with magnets in general so they go around seeing what they can stick these to. We will probably get more of these sets in the future, they are a lot of fun.
