Review on πŸ’‘ Furman Sound 8 Outlet Surge Protector by Polo Bradley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Professional Voltage Stabilizer and Filter for Stereo, AV, or Professional Musicians

I never considered spending more than $20 on an extension cord or surge protector until I bought an audiophile stereo. The store that sold me my turntable recommended a $500 extension cord. Another store recommended replacing the standard power cord that came with my amp with a $150 cord. Both recommendations were about sound quality, not surge protection. I doubt these items will bring an improvement in sound quality commensurate with their cost. If you have an extra $500 and want to improve the sound quality, it would certainly make more sense to invest in speakers or components. Spend $150 on this Furman Power Conditioner/Surge Protector and I'm glad I did. I can't tell if this improves the sound of my stereo; if so, the difference is negligible at best. But the unit is very well built, professionally, unlike the cheap, mass-market power strips available at Walmart or your local hardware store. And it gives me peace of mind that my expensive stereo is protected from power surges. I have purchased a few items for my stereo that may or may not improve the sound quality such as this power conditioner, an isolation platform for my turntable, a record puck and an upgraded turntable power supply. I may have wasted money looking for tiny audio improvements. But my system sounds really great, and I find that the combination of all these elements makes a difference, even if some of them aren't really important on their own.
