Finally out of the noise!

Exactly what I needed! Today I replaced my cheap Tripp Lite surge protector with a Furman PST-8D and the faint background hiss I was hearing from my PC -> USB DAC -> Phone amp at high volume is now completely gone. BTW, my PC's power supply, LCD, and printer are plugged into Furman "digital ultrasonic noise filter" outlets, while the DAC and headphone amp are plugged into "line-filtered" outlets. Never heard such a black background on this amp.

Pros
  • Doping 🔥
Cons
  • Hard to say

Even without "trying" to hear the difference in stable sound quality, I actually hear it. I know there is debate as to whether such air conditioning (without spending many hundreds) can improve the sound. but so often during the day my stereo didn't seem right "most of the time" - lacking the clarity, clarity and overall soundstage compared to listening to music in the evening. Thought it was my imagination - it's the power company's spread/use under heavy use. I personally NEVER use snake oil…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Some little things

Actually worked to remove noise from my system!

Through trial and error I found that the digital sockets are suitable for devices with a screen such as a TV or monitor. When I first received this air conditioner, I accidentally connected the CD player to the digital jack. The instruments in the songs I knew sounded strange and unusual. Luckily, I tried plugging the CD player into a different outlet that my amp and DAC were already plugged into. Afterward, the music sounded exactly as I remembered it, but with an expanded soundstage…

NO SURGE PROTECTION

Edit: The little protection light never came on and I assumed it shouldn't. No, the device has never been a surge protector. Wrote to Furman, never got a reply. Furman isn't Furman anymore, you should keep buying their product until you get lucky and get one that actually works. No thank you. My system is not quite reference level, Martin Logan's smallest bookshelf speakers (good, but still), a mass-market receiver, and I stream my music from YouTube via AirPlay. I wanted a good surge…

Clearer Sound

Before Furman Sound 8, I used a sine wave UPS that was designed and manufactured overseas. I thought it would be a cheap solution to improve the sound of my surround sound receiver. But the cheap UPS batteries caught fire. I needed something new and something better. I called Furman and asked a few questions about one of their replacement products. A helpful technician explained to me that a UPS can never provide the on-demand power needed for good sound. So I bought a Furman Sound 8. Of course

  • Great Value

Did nothing to eliminate guitar amp hum/noise. See Video

I recently purchased three items to help eliminate line noise and hum from my amp. One was a Furman Power Conditioner (PST-8D) for about $160. Then the Ebtech Hum X Ground Line Voltage Filter for about $80 and finally the Pyle (PHE400) Compact Mini Hum Eliminator Box for about $30. The only thing that seemed to help my situation was the $30 Pyle. However, this resulted in a significant loss of tone and volume. Too much to be acceptable in my opinion. I have several amps, both tube and solid…

Pros
  • Rugged Finish
Cons
  • Something Else

PST-8D has two isolated banks of 4 outputs each. Neither is digitally more efficient than analogue. The fact is that the number goes to one bank, and the analogue to another. The manufacturer recommends analog connections closer to the cable and digital connections at the other end. Was it worth spending the extra $30 for the 8D instead of the PST-8, which also has LIFT technology? In hindsight, neither the reviews nor the manufacturers mention any benefits of compartmentalization on this…

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

I never considered spending more than $20 on an extension cord or surge protector until I bought an audiophile stereo. The store that sold me my turntable recommended a $500 extension cord. Another store recommended replacing the standard power cord that came with my amp with a $150 cord. Both recommendations were about sound quality, not surge protection. I doubt these items will bring an improvement in sound quality commensurate with their cost. If you have an extra $500 and want to improve…

Excellent quality and functional protection - at a reasonable price.

One of the biggest scams in electronics is the marketing of surge protectors, specifically the manufacture of extremely cheap MOV only surge protectors that are overpriced. Several well-known manufacturers have been guilty of this marketing scam (grossly overpriced for a cheap product that actually offers limited protection). Although Furman has been criticized by some of its competitors for making "false" claims about its SMP protection (Furman in particular claims that its SMP protection is…

  • Good product for the price
