I bought these socks just because of that. I had problems with swollen calves due to varicose veins. I have a job that requires me to be up 9 hours a day, so my leg started hurting at night and bothering me. These socks are very good, the material is very good quality. I love the fact that it has a band around the top of the toe so it doesn't cut your foot. I bought a pair of other expensive socks with a metallic finish that I won't name, but they didn't have a band at the top and they cut off circulation at my knee, leaving a deep groove. These socks wash well, don't lose elasticity and are a good buy. I've since bought a few other colors. I have a size 11 shoe and bought a large one that was comfortable and snug enough around my foot without being uncomfortable. Now I wear them all the time. My foot improved a lot and by the end of the day I had no more discomfort.
