This is a trailer switch. super easy. We've used countless brands and honestly can't say any of them are better or less resilient to falls at the worst possible time (it's a small pendant, if it can break it will break). That being said, I think the biggest damage these devices cause is mouth breathers pulling out the tear-off pin and then "threading" it through the hitch before re-attaching it since they don't have a clamp on the rope itself to that you can clip around your vehicle - so do yourself a favor and buy a $1 carabiner at the grocery store or here and use it as a way to attach it to your tow hitch. I also recommend pulling the pin out once before use, smearing it with dielectric or silicone grease, and then putting it back in. Helps retain and lubricate water.
