Have ordered these canisters twice - once from Revain and once from Bed Bath & Beyond. While they look amazing on the outside, the smell inside is just awful! It smelled like paint. Speaking of paint, the interior paint was peeling when they came out of the box. After re-reading the list on both sites, there is no mention anywhere that they are food safe. If you store sugar, flour, etc. in plastic or original paper bags INSIDE the cans, you should be on the safe side. I wouldn't store flour, sugar, etc. directly in the canisters. NOTE: The thought that I might have just received a bad set prompted me to order a second set - the same. Made in India. In the end, BOTH sets were returned.
