Very sharp lens. My shooting results with this lens were very good, I noticed that the lens shows less contrast, which makes the images from the camera look a bit flat. This is a simple setting in Lightroom or CS. I have a description of this lens on truetoad.com, Trail with a Nikkor 45mm PCE also has some photo examples. This is a large, heavy HAND lens. Works great on my D800 or D700. focus manual; The wide focus knob has positive feedback with the perfect balance of resistance - no tilt. - Iris is manual or electronic iris is offered on D800/D700; This means that the camera body can stop the lens. -- You can also press the electronic depth of field button on the lens to check the depth of field as well. -- You must take all shots with the lens in the standard position (no tilt or shift), then mount the camera, then tilt/shift and then take the picture. You have to learn that, I still forget that sometimes. With that in mind, this lens isn't designed for fast action or moving subjects. - due to the manual nature of the lens. This is a "thinker" lens. This lens offers an additional function: micro/macro. It's not a true micro lens with a 1:1 aspect ratio, but it focuses very close and offers near-micro features. I have some sample microphotos on truetoad.com. wide objects or for a focus point (hard to explain) - you can also move blurred backgrounds or create sharp foregrounds and everything else with nice bokeh. The lens has four grips, two larger for tilt-shift and two for locking the lens. On the 45 PCE, all of the buttons appear to work well for their intended purpose. Nikon warns users not to get their fingers caught between the grips and the camera body when rotating the lens - fingers could become trapped. It takes some practice to get the most out of this lens. and experiment. If you're thinking of giving up money for one, you might want to consider renting it to try it out first.
