The trim guide lines weren't accurate which isn't the biggest downside but a little disappointing. I wouldn't call them "gel" either, they are very hard. Just a little more cushioning than the base of the boot I added it to (cavallo ELB). As a result, they appear to provide my horse with additional comfort, although this is an anecdotal observation. Even if they are trimmed as accurately as possible, they still rotate while driving. This is perhaps my bolt model more than anything else. All in all I'm not sure if they were worth the money but being cheap they give you enough reassurance that I won't be returning them.
