Review on πŸŒ™ Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 Review: Premium AMD AM4 Dual-Tower CPU Cooler (Brown) by Jerry Mills

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great cooler, a bit fiddly to install

Awesome. I was able to drop the temperature by about 15 degrees Celsius compared to the standard Wraith Spire. Running my Ryzen processor at 3.8 GHz at 60 degrees Celsius during the Prime95 stress test. At idle it's about 30-35. When I play PUBG or Overwatch at max settings, my CPU runs between 40 and 50 seconds. 3.8 GHz) Noctua was still 10 degrees cooler than when using the Wraith Spire. Don't get me wrong, the Wraith Spire is a great cooler because it's stock, but I was able to run lower cooling at higher overclocks with Noctua - as you'd expect when comparing a stock cooler to an aftermarket cooler. The only downside is the slightly tricky installation, I had some trouble aligning the heatsink with the brackets. You can see from my photos this cooler is gigantic and I placed the fans in the middle and on the back of the cooler and blew air out the back of my case. With a fan right at the front, it hit my Ram (Corsair LPX). When I finally put it on, I realized I was being stupid and that it would be next to impossible to connect the fan connectors to the heatsink. So I had to take it off, plug in the fan connectors and turn it back on after resetting the TIM. So be sure to keep this in mind during installation! I will say it is much easier to install than the Hyper 212 which I installed on an older setup. Also a big plus is that it comes with a large supply of Noctua thermal paste. I ended up using it both on my CPU and replacing the original paste on my GPU. Now my graphics card runs a little cooler.

Pros

Cons
  • Some bugs
