Review on Valterra Q5004 Potty Toddy Tab by Darin Grosz

Very disappointing results for a portable toilet.

I have used various toilet/waste tank chemicals for portable toilets that we use when camping and have found that the one that works best contains toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde. Reviews of these tabs, I was skeptical from previous experiences. but hope this product works as advertised. On day one, freshly cleaned bin and following the instructions carefully, I was very impressed with the odorlessness of my Thetford Porta Potti. Unfortunately, the results in the following days were not very good. In fact, on the second day, when the valve was opened, the smell became unbearable. even with the addition of an additional tablet. I usually empty the toilet tank daily when camping, mainly to avoid lugging it behind my back. But due to the low usage and low temperatures we experienced, I really expected better results from these HIGH GRADE tablets. Even after repeated emptying and flushing of the waste water tank, the septic odor was still very noticeable and I ended up using Thetford AquaChem (with toxic chemicals) to solve the odor problem. I can say that the tablets really help break down solid waste well, which is a plus. Next time I use a portable toilet I will do a comparison test. whether on a camping trip or during a power outage at home. I'm still hoping for better results, but so far my current experience of using Potty Toddy Tabs in a portable toilet hasn't encouraged me.
