Great thermos. Can brown mold or rust develop? I'm not sure because I'm gross and I don't clean like I should. I don't think it's her fault. I put ice on this cooler, left it in the shop at work, and when I come back the next day it will still have ice in it. So it really is a thermos, not just a water bottle. It seems quite thick and I've dented it by dropping it on the floor but otherwise no leaks. The lid has thick plastic threads that don't seem to break or tear easily. In my opinion, it didn't have an overly chemical taste or smell. There was some of it, but you can just soak and rinse it off. Be sure to clean with soap and vinegar.
