Great to wear under work pants for a commute without having to change your whole pants for such a short ride, but covers the entire knee and upper calf and has padding on the sides of the knees. Very convenient. The only thing I would have liked was the top straps were a bit longer. I'm a tall guy, the top straps only overlap an inch. The bottom strap is nice and wide (about 3.5 inches) and has a very good closure. If the top straps were better I would have no complaints at all. The length of the top strap is the only reason for 4 stars vs 5 stars.
