They work like a charm! Even without weights, we didn't have mold due to the anaerobic environment created by the pump. One thing we noticed is that it's difficult to remove the lid once fermentation has taken place. . . if you don't use the right technique. When you open the jar, you press it like you would a pill bottle and the lid pops open instantly.
