I used a pistol and a small 5/32 screwdriver to insert spikes into the soles of an old Keen ice skate. Haven't lost one after many kilometers. With my next order I will probably use the smaller 9mm screws. I feel like they stand out, but it's bearable. The bolts were too long for the mountain bike tires I tried them on. They would pierce cameras even with a good liner.
