I often have shoulder stiffness and occasional rotator cuff pain. My lower back also tends to hurt from sitting in front of the computer all day. I was interested in trying something new as the old massagers I've tried in the past are 20 year old wand styles. At first I was surprised how deeply I could feel the vibrations in my muscles. So far it seems to be working very well, but it can be a bit fiddly to rotate in some areas. Ball attachments seem to be my favorite and are heaven for my lower back. The lowest setting seems strong enough to me. At first I was concerned that I might accidentally turn it on while storing or carrying it, but they really thought it through and actually turned on the main switch on the bottom.
