These are water sports and cycling shorts. Very comfortable, slim and beaten with wooden docks and such. I've used them so much that I bought a second pair a few months later and had to examine the design closely to determine which was last as they wear out so little despite frequent and rough use. As for the size - I wear 16-18 and found XL comfortable but not too tight in the waist.
