Good surge protector but the light is obtrusively bright

As a surge protector/surge protector this thing is reliable and I like it. There's enough space between the outlets to plug things in, which is nice and I haven't had any issues with that. It's not too heavy either, which is good since it attaches to the underside of my desk. I have two complaints about the surge protector that are annoying enough to mention. First, the power button is on the side, not the top, which resulted in me accidentally pressing the button when grabbing the surge protector to move it. This is a minor issue and I just need to be careful when handling the surge protector. The second problem is much more annoying, and that is the surge protection lighting. Huge light wrapping around one end of the surge protector, it's too bright and green. All of this creates problems when used in a space where people can spend time in the dark, such as a living room. Manufacturers need to learn that bright lights are taboo on simple electronics like this, and if there's a bright light on the product, make it red so it's less distracting at night and doesn't brighten the room. I wrapped the lamp in duct tape for the time being to deal with. Eventually I'll paint over it, leaving a streak of color so I can easily tell if it's burning or not. Keep this in mind if you are using this in a residential area. If it's an office environment with no people around at night or lights on in most rooms, that's fine.

Pros
  • Surge protector and filter
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
