IPS just doesn't have the contrast you can stomach in moody movies or scary scenes BUT other than that this monitor is pretty great. This is my first IPS screen, besides I have had many others. I like that the viewing angle means the top and bottom of the screen are always the same. Many VA and TN panels have a viewing angle where you can never get enough brightness on top without blurring the bottom. Everything at the top of each page is now perfectly colored, as is the rest of the screen. What is itself crisp, big, stays crisp in heavy traffic with the right settings. Notable Cons: The power cord barely reaches the floor, depending on the desk. It's best to have an under-desk power distributor at the back of your desk for this, but the plug is also a large wall-mounted wart (with pins right on the wart), which is such an old design choice that I went to it I was looking for extension cords. When I was a kid I used it with my Genesis/32X/Sega CD install. But that's literally the worst part of the experience with this monitor, so only one star.
