Review on Tandy Leather Sunflower Craftool 88492 00 by Barbara Simmons

I find it very difficult to get a good crisp impression with this stamp. That's very weak. At first I could hardly get the flower to appear. No matter what thickness or color of leather I used, or how wet I got it before getting up, no matter how hard or how many times I hit the die with a hammer, the best I could get was a flat outline . My roommate eventually suggested using a clamp and some pieces of wood to press the stamp into the skin as hard as possible, which actually looked really good, but it was impossible to accurately measure and place the stamp on my project. But it convinced me that making a decent impression with this brand is POSSIBLE and I upped my game. It took some practice and tweaking, but I eventually found that if I use a HEAVY claw hammer and really drive the punch into the concrete floor (the hardest surface I have access to) it comes out fine. In general, this is a good brand, but it really needs work.
