The small random orbit block is a very strong construction. As with any air grinder, you'll need to press it periodically at low speed to get it spinning, and this one is no different. After being hacked, all he needs is a little Dao. The speed control is extremely sensitive and the slightest adjustment will take you from barely moving to a much faster speed. But overall this is a great product. As usual, El Cheapo's Chinese pads are good, but the rear loop material comes off the pad quickly because they use junk glue and the materials are unlikely to thermally fuse. I reattached one of the support loops with thermoset glue and it stayed in place like a 3M gasket and the foam is actually a decent solid quality that can be polished very effectively with non-vertebral halos restorative compound. If they could solve the sticking issues these would be pretty good pads. But if the support loop patches fall off during buffing, damage can occur if you really put pressure on them. So I'll call them trash for now, unless you attach a loop patch like I did on one of them. The foam pad itself is really excellent. Always remember to put a drop or two of oil in the air line mounting hole and give it a few turns periodically to allow it to move freely. This is a REALLY well made solid block of metal. With a few drops of oil and a drop of Bluecreeper penetrating fluid, this thing was completely busted in about 10 minutes of use. Works perfectly. If the yo-yo ever stops spinning smoothly, ask the yo-yo in the mirror if it has put oil in the air intake. The most common mistake people make with these air tools is not lubricating them regularly. If you do this, even the cheapest engine will run great forever. It's just a very well made unit. I just wish the air controls were a little less sensitive. Just a quirk, no complaint. This little air osmosis works great with 3M Trizac 1500, 3000 and 8000 grit for incremental wet sanding of target areas. The tiny 1" pad and 1" baseplate vibrate a little more than the 3" baseplate, apparently due to the offset weight, which is probably more intended for the 3" baseplate. But not in an uncontrollable or uncomfortable way. This tiny rug option is great for small, hard-to-reach spots. Just make sure these loops don't come loose if you use the pads a lot. If they had used a more efficient gluing method, everything included in this kit would definitely cost almost twice as much. I'm actually thinking of making some really high quality 1", 2" and 3" mini sanding pads for these small devices, as well as 1", 2" and 3" interface pads to take the pressure off when sanding. With a lightweight air hose and a good performing compressor, this little thing is a game changer. I've done some weathering on vegetable tanned leather with this device and a microfiber pad with sand and paint and it worked absolutely perfectly. Highly recommend this unit especially if you need a small air powered random orbit sander/buffer. Just make sure you have a good stable CFM of at least 5 or 6 at 90psi to really benefit from a heavier build. With good air movement, this little RO is a monster. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
