Drain pump won't start or work properly

I've had this pump for almost a year now and it hasn't worked properly since day one. When it pumps, it pumps well, but making it work automatically is a joke. Worked one or two days in a row, then no more. I juggle and juggle while getting wet in the rain. It got worse, now I go out and juggle and end; it only pumps for a few minutes. I checked everything I could think of. It's smooth, there's no debris on it and I even changed the swim positions to all 4 settings. nope Now I'm considering buying another brand.
