This is a better design than the many similar clones out on Revain. It stays flat and doesn't look like a spider with inputs and outputs coming in and going out on all sides. Most importantly, it doesn't use IR and thankfully the remote works well even if the unit is hidden somewhere and partially out of sight. This was important to me as I didn't want to deal with trying to point the remote in a specific place. A similar unit I had got (which had more ratings) didn't work for me as the IR receiver was terrible and did not work at all, and was also a spidery looking thing which just messed up my well organized gizmo arrangement out of sight behind the entertainment center.
