This is a very tasty food that digests much faster than many other bird foods (mostly corn and soy based) that I have tried. So far we have been very lucky with two young sparrows and an older lovebird with a damaged beak. With much less persuasion than "normal" this formula was adopted within a minute or so. The only minor downside to this formulation is that it dries fairly quickly and I have to add a few drops of water and stir again during a five minute feeding session to get the consistency I want. However, this is a relatively small price to pay for the excellent perception of this food; especially in fussy or traumatized patients who need appetite stimulation.
