I used to use a different brand of hand food mixes. It was decent but stuck together easily. I switched to this product after reading many positive reviews. It was a very nice smelling fine powder that didn't seem to stick together as easily as other brands. Any lumps were easily removed with a fork by rubbing them in the bowls I use for food mixing. This is a very tasty food that digests much faster than many other bird foods (mostly corn and soy based) that I have tried. So far we have been very lucky with two young sparrows and an older lovebird with a damaged beak. With much less persuasion than "normal" this formula was adopted within a minute or so.
