We wanted a clock for our large living room mantel with lots of cherry wood. It fits the bill and I have to say it's quite aesthetically pleasing and the wooden case does a pretty good job of masking the ticking noise. The wood feels real and solid, although the back of the "mechanism" is just a round black plastic cover. I say "mechanism" because the real insides of the watch are the same cheap AA watches mass-produced in China. (not that there's anything wrong with that) that you can find for $5 plastic wall clocks from Ikea or Walgreens. , an example of good old reliable technology. You get an inexpensive series watch in a beautiful case. For the price I don't think it's that bad. I have not seen this information anywhere on Revain. So don't expect long hours.
