Review on DOKIO Foldable Monocrystalline Inverter Controller by Mike Kimball

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A very good portable solar solution at the moment.

(200W version) Arrived quickly. The packaging is appropriate, but there is one small complaint: A battery clip was slightly bent during transport. No problem. Attractive product, well designed and manufactured. Lightweight and portable. The canvas design of the bag looks durable. Obviously, this product is not intended for permanent or semi-permanent installation. Our plan is to use it on our sailboat's bimini, away from shore power, in good weather. Therefore, it would be strategic on our part to apply additional silicone sealant, avoid getting it wet and wipe away the spray when storing. The included controller is only rated for 10 amps (according to the sticker on it). It's branded as Dokio but not made by them. We didn't get any instructions in the box so I searched the internet and found the manufacturer (Cinco) of the 10w generic. PWM charger included. You can find a link for a 30 watt version of the same Cinco controller on aliexpress and their listing has everything you need to know about it. Nice little PWM controller. Don't worry, it's easy to set up and get started: 1. First attach the battery clips to your home battery. Red/Positive. Do not connect any solar panels yet. 2. Please note that the controller will light up. 3. Select a range of settings on the controller using only the left button. Pay attention to the specified default values. These can be changed using the middle and right buttons, but I suggest leaving them alone unless you know exactly what you want. For most users, the only setting to pay attention to is the battery type setting. It has 3 options, all kinds of lead/acid: B-1, aerated. b-2, general meeting. and b-3, Gel. Adjust it accordingly with the middle and right buttons. 4.-Connect your solar panels. Ready. Some users may wish to connect a night light or other device to the load terminals. There are timer settings to turn this device on and off at sunset, sunrise, etc. We don't use this feature in our setup. I can't tell you how well it works yet. Just yesterday we deployed it on the boat, shut off shore power and will be monitoring the batteries for a while. The boat has 3 AGM 12v. Batteries with a capacity of about 270 Ah and we run 3-5 amps 12V. Fridge full time. We'll update as we see how it works, but for now we're happy with these panels as a simple extra measure for short cruises and anchors. We attached it with a bungee and connected it in less than 10 minutes. (See photo)
