Review on πŸ’‘ Retrofit Industrial Electrical Recessed Downlight Lighting by Greg Anderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to use when you create a template.

Works great and a little trick to make installation easier. It's thin and bends easily, but that's part of the benefit of retrofitting existing recessed lighting. My first try or two failed miserably because it was difficult to center the opposite side and sometimes I want it to be misaligned when the light hole was cut out of alignment. The trick I used to save time and achieve perfect light alignment was this: 1) Take your light source and draw a circle on a piece of paper and also put an "X" on the paper path , where the spring clip on the light head (should be one on each side of the world, see fig.). Draw a line through both "X's" through the middle. 2) I align the clip so the short tab that the screw enters is facing down and place the first clip about 1 inch from the bottom of the can lantern. 3) Using a template, line up one of the "X's" where the clip was placed and line up the template where you think it will completely cover the hole. Then mark where the other clip will go on the opposite side by following the lines "X". you drew in step 14) Install the second clip in the marked location. 5) Install the light and it should line up the way you wanted it. Hopefully this will help make your upgrade job less of a pain.
