I almost wrote the thing off, because no matter what I did and no matter how I brewed, good coffee never came out. Add in the size and the fact that it's intended for "cooking glasses" and not for filling my 20 ounce mug and this thing is no winner. I was determined to make it work though as I want to limit my Cafestol intake to prevent possible cholesterol issues as my LDL has been on the brink in the past but I love a good French press. The answer turned out to be simple. I prep and rinse the filter, then put the smart on the cup and then do the french press anyway. Then when the drink is ready I just pour it through the filter into the Smart and I have a nice clean cup, with almost all the flavor of a French Press and without clogging the arteries. My morning coffee ritual is almost every day now. I still occasionally make a French Press without the Clever, but I'm beginning to appreciate the pure taste and sandless cup of tea.
