My keyboard will only pair/connect when the keyboard itself is plugged into a power source. I had this problem with the first one I bought and I thought it was defective but found after replacing it had the same problem - and I went to the Nexus help forum - this is a common problem with this product There doesn't seem to be an obvious solution either from the Nexus or from the seller I contacted. It literally turns itself off as soon as I unplug even a fully charged keyboard. Strange limitation for a keyboard designed for a mobile device. Yes, the lack of a backlight is also a disadvantage, but the main problem is plugging your mobile device into an electrical outlet on airplanes, trains and in all other places where mobile devices are used frequently. (By the way, I noticed a group of Revain customers complaining about the keyboard not holding a charge - I've come to the conclusion that the problem isn't the battery, it's this connection issue - but whatever it is, it is is a problem that I don't think can fix)
