Review on MTX Thunder500.1 Thunder Series Car Amplifier by Anferny Pineda

Great amp! the best in automotive electronics

Amazing amplifier! Sounds great and looks great with an all-metal body. Furnishings are relatively basic with all the usual fixtures and fittings you would expect. All speaker and power connections have screw compression, which is very convenient and saves time when connecting. I have a feeling the red area under the MTX logo should light up, if only for aesthetic reasons (or maybe it does, but I just can't tell =/). But other than that, there are no external or functional claims. Internally, this is a relatively simple Class A/B PCB layout, well designed with minimal components and protruding through holes. The only increased components are 8 driver transistors for each output FET, but still seem solid enough not to suffer from too much road vibration. The (red) board itself seems to be of high quality, with very strong traces on the power side which I really like instead of protruding rails. The only thing I don't like about this amp is the Shenzhen Acon filter capacitors on the input and output of the power supply. I would like to see Nichicon or Rubycon baseball caps here. Especially at a fixed price of $200 just about anywhere you look for this amp online. I have to take a star off for this because I see these capacitors in other lower quality amps and it's kind of a disappointment. The problem with these Shenzhen market caps is that they aren't always of the highest quality. They may work well now, but a 5 year warranty in the future with normal wear and tear is questionable. All in all this is a great amp! Definitely recommend it. Always been a fan of MTX and always will be! Please use some more serious filter caps. =
