Pros and cons (and oddities) for my application

Totally mixed feelings about this mount. Pros: It is very strong and heavy. Turn around if you like. The bad news is that apparently the only thing holding your heavy computer case in place is a metal flap, which isn't very reassuring. You need to be mindful of the center of gravity of your suitcase when inserting it, otherwise if you have vertical clearance, which I'll discuss later, you risk tipping the suitcase up or down. Bad and weird, it seems, is that the width and height adjustment is limited to spaced holes, at least vertically, which you can only use for tightening. If I am not misunderstanding anything, your housing may or may not fit this metal valve snugly depending on dimensions, and you are limited by those spaced bolt holes when tightening. My body doesn't fit the hole that holds this metal flap snugly to the side, and worse, there's a vertical gap of about 1 inch because those screw holes only align with the tension bolt 1 inch apart. One more hole at the top and I would have run out of vertical space to insert the case. Just an odd design when the thumbscrews are supposed to go into holes on the chassis. Even if I may have misunderstood. I have no idea what that little red arrow pointing to the vertical hex screw is even for, since there's a vertical thumbscrew just above it to tighten the mounting height. Really strange! My case basically just balances in the mount. Kind of unreliable! Worse, I attached it to the top of the table with 4 long stainless steel screws and countersunk them with nuts on the bottom so it practically 'hangs'. The benefit of this is that the mount is very strong and can hold a very heavy suitcase like mine without a sweat. Much safer than the small wood screws that come with the under counter mounting kit. So that pleases me. Also, I bought one of those height adjustable desks so it was important for the computer and all of its cables to move with the desk to avoid damaging the cable and to keep it clean and tidy.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Upgradable
