My new TV only had 2 HDMI ports which I used for the initial installation. I had to add an external DVD player that I use sometimes. This component allows me to connect a ROKU streaming device that I use frequently and a DVD player. I never use them at the same time so this worked perfectly. I have DVD and Roku connected and fed to HDMI2. I just have to manually switch to DVD and the TV automatically displays the DVD logo. Easy connection and works perfectly. I didn't get it working with the remote as I rarely have to switch to DVD and I don't have to worry about changing the battery. It is shifted manually. Make sure you have the required Cat E cables (one to the TV, one to the DVD, and one to the Roku).
