Review on Chrome RP54870 Reno Repair Trim Kit: Enhance Delta 600 Series Tub and Shower Trim Kits with Delta Faucet Shower Handle by Roderick Reynolds

Upgrade kits stink and this is no exception

Bad attempt Delta. He had a 600 series with a crystal ball on the end. The seals were leaking, so it's time for an overhaul. Although this kit technically works, please be aware of the potential limitations for your application.1. Flow Restriction - The new ball has something inside that the old one didn't have. I suspect it might be some kind of flow restrictor since the outlet at the nozzle is smaller than before.2. Set screw missing from grip - although great to get a new grip, one set screw was missing. So I had to rummage through my supplies and although it was an unusual fine thread set screw I found it in my stash.3. No Shower Activation Hole - My faceplate has a hole at the bottom for a shower activation rod. They include a new faceplate which is fantastic BUT it doesn't have a hole for the shower activation shaft. As a result, I had to use the old one. So the installation is only partially shiny and new at the end.4. The nut is not knurled - the gland nut that holds and seals the ball is not knurled like the previous one. As a result, you're limited to using a strap wrench or something similar to tighten the whole thing up. It looks cleaner once installed, but that's a much bigger problem than the previous design. So in the end it works as a combination of new and old parts, plus an adjusting screw that I had to sacrifice. Over the years I've found that companies are too lazy to use upgrade kits and don't really bother if they aren't fully functional. I only use Delta at home and honestly expect more for the money.
