Review on 💾 OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual Mini Portable RAID Solution - 4.0TB, USB C, 5400RPM HD by Joseph Cvetkovic

Bought this drive to store Time Machine backups from my new Mac Mini. Easily configure RAID0 (factory default), which offers a total storage capacity of 4TB by writing to each of the two 2TB drives in the enclosure, or configure RAID1, which offers additional security by writing to only one drive and data on it a second drive to be mirrored. This reduces the total capacity to 2TB, but halves the chance of data loss due to hardware failure. The reason for the 3-star rating is because of one issue: this drive is very slow, at least when configured to use RAID1 (I didn't test RAID0 performance). The reason for this is the 5400 drives inside the case. RAID0 could be faster. I'm fine with this drive because the backup happens in the background while I work on other tasks, so slow performance isn't an issue for me. But I would never use it as a boot drive. Pros: Great looks, USB-C connectivity, easy setup, good price for storage OWC is a great company with fantastic customer service if you have an issue. One big minus: performance sucks.
