I bought these two sizes for my 4 year old who just went up to a size 13 this fall. I bought 12 and 13 to compare based on other reviews. In my experience they fit true to size, maybe a bit small. 13 is great for my daughter but maybe a hair smaller than some of the other brands. The width is narrower than some, which was good for us. If your child is on the verge of stepping out of their current size, I wouldn't be afraid to increase the size. My daughter doesn't have much room in them but if she had more they could slip off the heel. I would like to point out that there is a small piece of elastic underneath the buckle, which means you probably won't have to undo it every time to put it on, which is nice! The only thing worth mentioning is that the sole has been slightly deformed by them so they don't sit flat. Part of the heel doesn't touch the ground, but hopefully that will improve over time. We had trouble finding maryjane style shoes that didn't look bulky and the flats didn't fit my daughter's narrow foot well. It is very sweet!
