Review on πŸͺ‘ Safco Twixt Active Seating in Green - Optimize your search! by Emily Perkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Comfortable, attractive and well built but creaks horribly on hardwood floors

One of my colleagues tried out her Move by Varier tilting saddle stool, natural ash frame, black fabric STE 999 seat, which I wasn't a fan of. Having something between my legs all day caused me too many wedges. Another colleague let me try her rocking chair from Uncaged Ergonomics - the perfect ergonomic office chair for active sitting, sit-stand desks, breakfast barstools with an adjustable saddle. Task chair (Black) which was much better but I found the seat was too small even for my skinny butt. At some point it gets uncomfortable. Another problem with the rocking stool was that the fabric was very slippery and would slowly slide up towards my back when I leaned on it. Both of these issues are normal (since I have to stand for a while instead) but when I buy something I wanted to find something with a better grip and a wider base. I thought this Safco Twixt stool was very chic and finally decided on the color. Assembly was very easy, no tools needed and packaging was fine. The first thing I noticed was that it was VERY noisy on my hardwood floor. Every time I change position, it creaks nasty. I admit I only washed it 2 days ago so there is no dust or dirt on it to slide over. This is solved by putting a rug underneath, but then the rug slips when I tilt the stool and lean against it. If you plan to use this in a non-carpet environment, you should probably skip this. I'm taking it to my carpeted office, so don't expect any problems. It's very comfortable and I'm happy with the wider seat. It seems well built. It's made in Taiwan, which in my experience is usually an order of magnitude better than most Chinese products. In general, I am satisfied with them so far. The fabric is grippier than other active chairs I've tried, and the wider base is just more comfortable. Although the base is hollow plastic, it feels solid and offers more ground surface for traction. I don't see that as a problem. I'll keep updating this review as I get used to it and use it more often, but look forward to it lasting for many years to come! Since then I've been using it about 20 hours a week. The fabric is still like mint, it hasn't faded or stretched as far as I can tell. I was worried about crumbs, lint or whatever getting into the "pores" like other seats with this fabric, but for some reason mine is still perfectly clean. I noticed that the seat was a bit "hard" (not springy). so much) and could not be lowered when bent over. I had to sit perfectly upright to adjust it. I've used auto grease to lubricate the piston and it's different day and night - it's just as good as the day I got it back.
