Great mount but don't trust the level attached

I bought this wall mount for a Vizio 55" HDTV. Although one person can do it to the wall I would do not recommend So my wife helped me a bit to mark the location for the lag screws, as well as turning the lab screws as long as I held Once the screws are screwed in, simply letting the bracket hang while the screws are tightened is sufficient The instructions state that the bracket must be mounted on two studs. More on that later. Once installed it feels solid and I can turn the 55" TV in any direction perpendicular to the wall. Moving the TV is not easy but with a little practice it doesn't seem like too much of a hassle, as others have reported pressing the tv requires g A certain direction of the hinge arm against the wall so that it can be folded properly. I believe that this manipulation does not take much time and therefore it is not a problem, although we rotate the TV quite often (and the TV was installed less than a week). I didn't notice any play in my hand even when the TV was pushed completely away from the wall. Of course, the mount is rated at over 200 pounds and the TV only weighs 35 pounds, so I installed a wall box for the outlet and the cords I ran through the wall. This required me to place some washers between the bracket and the wall to make room for the wall box, but it wasn't difficult to do. A hole in the center of the mount provided enough space to route cables and access the power and ethernet plugs in the wall box. I secured the cables and power cord to the top and bottom of the side panel bracket and used rubber bands to take up the slack when the brackets are fully collapsed so the cables don't hang down under the TV but can also be fully extended without straining the cables. A few notes: 1) I read a couple of reviews that said the screws that came with the mount broke during installation and the screws that came with the mount seemed light and cheap, so I went ahead and got some screws Bought from Home Depot for $4 so I can be sure they won't break. For such a low price, it seemed like easy insurance against bolt failure. 2) The small plane that is part of the mount seemed like a great idea. until I set up the TV and found that although the bubble was centered right between the two lines, it wasn't actually level. I don't trust the activated level very well, but I'm also a bit disappointed. Obviously this can be avoided by double checking with an accurate level. Overall I'm happy with the mount and would definitely recommend it. For the price, it does everything I want (particularly full swivel) and was about half the price of similar full swivel mounts I researched.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • I won't say anything
