As with the hot ruler, there is a learning curve to using it properly. I place the fabric just behind where I really want my edge and press down quickly, then remove the hem and press longer again for a stronger, more defined line. Since it's a bit thick, if you try to iron the edge exactly along the line, it will end up being too short if you don't take into account the thickness of the tool itself. Once you learn how to do it this way, it's a great tool to have in your sewing basket along with a hot ruler. I didn't think I'd need both but they are so different in size and shape that I use them the same way and would definitely recommend them if you enjoy sewing small things like wallets, especially as card slots are very quick and makes it easy. .
