This item was shipped in its original packaging. It is aluminum but stamped "Noble Castles". Installation was a breeze. When replacing the hard drive and battery on an older Mac, the general rule of thumb is to gently position the screwdriver, apply pressure, and gently turn the screw. The included Torx screwdriver is the right tool and the screws are the right length. When the screw sticks. Stop immediately and go to the Apple Store. The screws are easy to remove and once removed they are really difficult to remove. The lock works and does not stick. One star less because I can't use the cover to protect the bottom of my Macbook Pro. Overall attractive, unobtrusive, it still fits in my Tumi laptop bag without adding weight or getting in the way. I'll look at the screws to see if they're loose, but for now I'm very happy.
