Before I give an overview of this wonderful camera, a little background on my photo journey. I learned the basics of photography on the Nikon D5300 (over 5 years ago) and then eventually progressed to the full frame D750. After years of shooting for fun and for semi-professional use I decided to downsize and bought a used Olympus Em10 Mark I. That's when I fell in love with the M43 format as the size and portability allowed me to use my camera to take with me everywhere and some more of my favorite pictures were on my Olympus. Combined with good glass like the Panny 20mm 1.7 the images were amazing and crisp. Fast forward to today and I decided to try the new Nikon Z50 to go completely Nikon and maybe get rid of my Olympus. Not because of the image quality, but because of the slow autofocus of the Em10 Mark I (camera over 7 years old), especially when trying to track my daughter. I've been using the Z50 for just over a week and I'm sure the images have been great, as has the autofocus, but I hated using the Z adapter to use a different glass as it has more bulk added, which defeats the purpose of such a small camera. In summary I returned the Z50 and ended up buying an Olympus em5 Mark III and I couldn't be happier. The Em5 Mark III sensor is a big improvement over the old 16MP m43 sensor, the dynamic range is GREAT, the low light is definitely improved and the 20MP is perfect for everything I need to shoot. In terms of image comparisons between the Z50 and the Em5 iii, I can honestly say that the Em5 iii is on par with the Z50. The Z50's kit lens is great, delivering great color and sharpness, but the Em5 iii can't do that. Once you put on a good glass, Olympus will really show you what it's capable of and this improved sensor shines! Overall I am very happy with this camera. The JPEG colors are bright and saturated, the stabilization is incredible, the autofocus is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good, the PRO shooting is great for photographing birds and the EVF is probably the best I've ever used. If you are an M43 user or looking to give this format a try this is a great camera with the ability to shoot casually AND professionally, especially with the amazing M43 glass. A++
