Review on CoolToys 65 Piece Educational Children's Learning Set by Fred Maki

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good tool to introduce children to the concept of equivalence.

My 21 month old baby is already counting objects one after the other, saying numbers up to 20, but I can see that he is doing this because he knows the sequence of numbers by heart and is unable to count and convert to quantity . I bought this product to visually instruct him and introduce him to the concept of equivalence between quantities and actual numbering symbols. The colorful numbers excite him and he has a lot of fun grabbing the numbers and saying their names. It takes some effort to get him to focus and pay attention, but after a playful shift in my voice, he begins to pay attention and respond to being unbalanced once the number of monkeys on a side is equal the number on the other side will. Other side. This small and very clever physical detail in the toy is just what I needed to show him that they are both the same without the toy having to be electronic. I've had it for maybe over 2 months and my baby asks for it every time he makes monkey noises. He occasionally drops figures from 3 to 4 feet while seated in a high chair, and all figures survive multiple falls almost every day with no apparent visible damage. The weighing platforms or pallets are detachable yet strong, very easy to assemble and store in the same box. The monkey figurines are very adorable and incredibly durable and frankly the best quality, along with the numbers themselves. The only downside is that the balancing mechanism is a bit off and I can't calibrate it without risking breaking it, so did I didn't give it all 5 stars. Unfortunately he's already lost the numbers 3 and 7 so I'm trying to use a combination of 2+1 and 5+2 to replace them and keep showing him the number. I couldn't use the flashcards, but maybe in a few weeks he'll be able to follow the directions much faster and with more concentration.
