Review on 🍽️ Stainless Steel Spaetzle Maker by Norpro - Model 3129 by Esther Fisher

why did i wait so long?

I bought this almost a year ago but since then it's just taking up space in my office. A few days ago I decided to give it a try. I had my doubts about that from the start, mostly because I had the image of a big mess in my head. I couldn't see the dough falling through the holes without help and imagined it would take at least 4 hands to do all the work. Boy was I surprised! The container holds a full cup of batter and as I started moving it back and forth I found that it automatically flips the batter on itself and pops out of the holes. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish and they were exactly the same mom used to make. Taste, color and texture were identical to what I remember as good old German spaetzle. I started by bringing water to a boil and using half water and half Progresso Natural Low Salt chicken broth (like the one in the box). I used one of the many online recipes for my batter mix. It's simple: 2 cups of flour, half a cup of broth or water, 3 eggs, half a teaspoon of salt. I mixed it up with a wooden spoon, adding an additional tablespoon of broth about halfway through. Place the kettle over the pot and quickly fill the container. Start sliding back and forth, being careful not to move the container from the other end. At the end there is no stop. I didn't flip, stir, or remove mine during the process, just let them all cook until the container was empty. Then I let them simmer for another 30 seconds until they all floated to the top and scooped them into a bowl. Then I repeated the process with the last cup of batter. After the last batch was done I drained the water and put them back in the pot with some olive oil and tossed them slightly. , make sure you use the brush where the handle is connected. There seems to be a small space where the batter collects and it's a little hard to spot. Still, I give the whole experience 5 stars. It was fun and easy and the end result was perfect. and I'm not a very good cook when it comes to dough!
