Used as a hot water circulating pump

My first one failed eventually, I think it lasted 2 years, installed with a highletgo thermostatic relay module, 20-30' wires soldered between probe and module, glued to Hot water distributor under my pier and beam home. In winter he turns on this pump several times an hour, in summer less often. There have been a couple of instances where I've removed and drained my tubes but forgot to fill the recirculation line and blow air through it, so I know it ran dry a few times and got very hot, but it still has a whole one chugged on for a while. Eventually I forgot to refuel it after replacing my 300ft water line and it killed it. It's not the pump's fault, it's entirely my fault that it failed as it's not a self-priming pump (most circulating pumps aren't self-priming). I was so pleased with it that I bought 2 more, one to replace and one to support another project, whichever comes first (maybe I'll make a solar water heater with an extra pump circulating in the water tank). BTW I used Pex female swivel fittings, I don't think these threads are tapered like a proper 1/2". Must be an IP thread which can make it difficult to get a good thread sealant so you need it something with a washer to make a good compression seal (sort of supplied fittings with silicone washers). Since I used swivel fittings on both ends, foolishly the replacement was easy and tool-free. I also had a check valve after the pump to prevent backflow/ to prevent backflow and a ball valve upstream so I can shut off the water to the pump.I also used the included 12v 2amp power supply for another project and this pump only got some 12v 1amp power given that instead it only circulates intermittently in a closed loop to pump water to a faucet where more pressure may be needed, censor the "Jagdw tool" and do not pierce through the thumbnail, otherwise it may never grow properly.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Slightly torn
