I love the look and quality of these shoes and my child is happy with them and says they are comfortable. He usually wears wide sneakers, but he says he feels comfortable in them. (Maybe it's because it's still too big for him; it's a size larger than the previous pair, which started cramping him.) When I ordered and wrote, there were pictures on ebay and descriptions of elastic synthetic laces and too the ones we received have regular laces that tie. After looking up the manufacturer information, I think elastic laces are suitable for Little Kid sizes (up to 13).
