I only buy this and other Tripp-Lite/SLWaber metal power strips. Firstly, the case is made of metal, which, unlike plastic, does not burn when heated from electrical overload. The cord and plug that came with the extension cord are strong and heavy and the plug has good strong pins to fit securely into the socket. The cable is good and also long. The sockets on an extension cord are individual sockets and not the cheap brass strip that runs the length of cheaper extension cords. Simply put, these types of extension cords are all I buy. My understanding is that most plastic extension cords are fires waiting to happen. They are as strong and safe as can be. They may be cheap, but this is a premium power strip.
